2027: Oyo Accord Party guber candidate promises to focus on security, launches insurance coverage for local hunters

The governorship candidate of the Accord Party in Oyo State in the forthcoming 2027 election, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, has promised to tackle insecurity in the state, particularly in Oke-Ogun areas, by adopting stronger and more proactive approaches to safeguarding lives and property.

This is įust as he launched an initiative to provide insurance coverage for local hunters, who he admitted, have been working to protect communities in the region from criminal elements.

Hamzat, a broadcaster, stated this during his visit to Baptist Medical Centre, in Saki, to check on the progress being made by a victim of insecurity, Alhaji Hamzat Oladoke, who is being treated in the hospital.

Oladoke, a prominent supporter of the Accord Party, recently escaped a kidnapping attack in Ago-Are area, an incident which claimed the life of Mr Obadara Johnson Obadare.

It was learnt that Oladoke and his team were travelling in a vehicle when suspected kidnappers opened fire on them in a bid to force them to stop.

Hamzat, while acknowledging the efforts of the state government towards improving security, noted that kidnapping incidents still persist in Oke-Ogun.

He raised concerns that the Amotekun Corps and other law enforcement agencies were reportedly unable to respond during the hour-long attack, just as he added that his administration will support security agencies with operational vehicles to respond to emergencies.
