The Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, Rt. Hon. Mohammad Auwal Jatau, on Sunday formally resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), effective from 1 May 2026.
In a letter to the PDP Chairman of his Murmur South Ward, Zaki Local Government Area of the state, Auwal Jatau expressed profound gratitude to the party for the numerous opportunities it had accorded him over the years to serve in various capacities.
According to him, “The platform of the PDP has been instrumental in shaping my political journey and has provided me with the privilege to contribute meaningfully to the development of our dear state and the nation.”
He stated that, “However, after careful reflection and wide consultations, I am compelled to take this step due to the lingering crisis within the party.”
He explained that, “The current situation, which has left the party without clear and cohesive leadership, poses significant challenges to the political aspirations, stability, and progress of its members.”
Auwal Jatau added, “It is my firm belief that, under such circumstances, continuing my membership may not allow me to effectively pursue my political objectives and aspirations to the best of my ability in future opportunities.”
In the same vein, Auwal Jatau has joined his principal, Governor Bala Mohammad, in his new political party, the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM).
The Deputy Governor congratulated the Governor for joining the APM, promising to support and work with him to achieve the desired objectives.
Auwal Jatau then directed his political associates, supporters and well-wishers to join the new movement and give their best in the interest of the APM’s victory in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.
