American Actor RJ Mitte dies at 34

American actor RJ Mitte, best known for playing Walter “Flynn” White Jr. in the hit television series Breaking Bad, has died at the age of 34.

Mitte’s death was confirmed by his representatives following reports that he died in Texas on Monday, October 12, 2026.

According to TMZ, a county official confirmed his death, while the outlet reported that he died by suicide. However, law enforcement officials said the investigation into his death was ongoing.

In a statement shared with TMZ, his representatives expressed sadness over his passing, describing him as a beloved actor, philanthropist and passionate advocate for the rights of people with disabilities.

Mitte rose to international recognition through Breaking Bad, the acclaimed AMC drama in which he portrayed Walter White Jr., the son of the lead character played by Bryan Cranston. He appeared in 56 episodes of the series, which ran for five seasons.

Having lived with cerebral palsy himself, Mitte brought personal experience to his role and used his public profile to promote disability awareness and inclusion.

Beyond acting, he worked with organisations such as United Cerebral Palsy and Shriners Children’s, serving as an ambassador for both. He also served as president of The Mitte Foundation, supporting charitable causes and community initiatives.

His other screen credits included The Oak Room, The Recall and The Guardians of Justice, as he continued to work in film and television after the success of Breaking Bad.

Just days before news of his death emerged, Mitte appeared on The Joe Vulpis Podcast, where he reflected on how Breaking Bad changed his life and discussed the relationships he maintained with his former castmates after the series ended.

Earlier in October, he also appeared in social media posts alongside former co-star Luis Moncada.

Away from the screen, Mitte was known for advocating greater representation of people with disabilities in Hollywood and supporting charitable initiatives aimed at improving inclusion.

His representatives asked the public to respect the privacy of his family and loved ones during the difficult period.

Mitte was engaged to Kennedy Suarez, whom he proposed to in 2025 after several years together.

His death marks the loss of an actor whose work on Breaking Bad brought greater visibility to people living with disabilities, both on screen and beyond.
