…Varsity warns of fraud, says it only issues degree certificates and transcripts via Registrar
Babcock University has alerted the public to forged academic certificates falsely linked to the institution, warning that the documents are fraudulent and have no institutional backing.
In a public notice issued on June 29, 2026, the university said it uncovered a fake “Honorary Certificate” purportedly awarded to an individual for a “First Class Upper” distinction — a classification it says does not exist in its academic records.

Babcock clarified three key points:
1. No “Honorary” for undergrads: The university does not issue honorary certificates in recognition of undergraduate academic performance. Academic excellence is recognized only through official degree certificates and transcripts.
2. Wrong classification: Its recognized classification is “First Class Honours,” not “First Class Upper.”
3.Only the Registrar issues credentials*: All authentic academic documents are issued solely by the Office of the Registrar.

The institution urged employers, schools, government agencies, professional bodies, and the general public to disregard any unauthorised documents bearing its name, logo, or seal outside established academic processes.
Babcock warned that anyone involved in producing, distributing, presenting, or using forged credentials “could face investigation, prosecution, and other legal consequences under applicable laws.”
“The university is prepared to pursue both civil and criminal action against individuals or groups found misrepresenting its name, logo, seal, or academic credentials,” the notice stated.
It advised the public to verify any Babcock University certificate directly with the Office of the Registrar before using it for employment, admission, or other official purposes.
