Biafra: Northern Igbo leaders denounce Kanu’s agitation

Leaders of Igbo community in the 19 Northern states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have distanced themselves from Nnamdi Kanu’s agitation for the break-off of the country.

Speaking to Journalists in Gusau, Zamfara state capital on Thursday, President-General of the Igbo Delegate Assembly (IDA) 19 northern states and Abuja, Chief Chikizie Nwogu said the Igbo communities in the 19 northern Nigeria were not in support of such agitations by the IPOB.

“As we all know, the South-East governors forum and our apex body that is the Ohanieze Ndigbo have condemned the activities of IPOB, we are solely behind them,” he added.

According him, Igbo leaders were  in Zamfara to reconcile the prolonged leadership tussle in the Igbo Community in the state.

“We have succeeded as the two factions have agreed to work together under one umbrella”, he stressed.

“We are calling on the entire Igbo Community in Zamfara to embrace peace among them, we Igbo as peace loving people, therefore we should ignore any political agitations to distract peace in the country.

The spokesman further explained that Igbos residing in the Northern part have confidence in the oneness of Nigeria and ready to cooperate with government and all stakeholders to move the country forward. He stated that even last week, the Igbo leadership met with coalition of Arewa Youths Association in Kano to ensure peace and stability of the country.
