United States President Joe Biden has directed U.S. forces to aid Israel’s defence against Iran, which launched missile attacks against the Jewish state.

U.S. National Security Council spokesperson Sean Savett disclosed this in a statement issued by the White House on Wednesday, October 2, 2024.

Savett quoted Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris to have said that they “are monitoring the Iranian attack against Israel from the White House Situation Room and receiving regular updates from their national security team.”

According to the spokesperson, Biden has “directed the U.S. military to aid Israel’s defence against Iranian attacks and shoot down missiles targeting Israel.”

The statement came as Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps said it had targeted Israel with dozens of ballistic missiles.
