BREAKING: Dele Ayanleke polls 137 votes to emerge MAN President, as stakeholders anticipate progressive era  

President-elect, Miners Association of Nigeria (MAN), Mr. Dele Ayanleke (middle), flanked on both sides by some delegates who participated in the election, on Thursday, in Abuja.

Mr. Dele Ayanleke has emerged the Executive National President of the Miners Association of Nigeria (MAN).

He was declared winner in an election conducted in Abuja, on Thursday, after polling 137 votes against his rival, Mr. Musa Mohammed who had 14 votes in a National Executives Council (NEC) election that had the participation of 152 accredited delegates from 32 States of the Federation, including the Federal Capital territory (FCT), Abuja.

The delegates elected the following officials alongside Ayanleke: Hon. Ibrahim Muhammad Babayaro, 1st Vice President; Hon. Benjamin Obaji, 2nd Vice President; Engr. Fatai Jimoh, National Publicity Secretary; Hon. Tope Adebanjo, National Financial Secretary; Hon. Suleiman Arzuka, National Treasurer; and Hon. Shehu Dinawa who was elected National Treasurer of the association.

In his acceptance speech, the President-elect promised an all-inclusive government of the Association, stating: ‘I will bring my experience and knowledge of mining industry to bear on the efforts and decisions we will make as a body, to ensure that the sector plays its role in wealth and jobs creation in Nigeria.’

Ayanleke commended Mr. Musa Mohammed (who served as Ag. President of the Association) for his commitment to the development of the association, stating that it is a win-win situation.

The newly elected president and his team are expected to progressively pilot the affairs of the over 100,000 member association for the next four years.
