In a sustained effort to tackle the alarming rise in Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) across Nigeria, the African Centre for Leadership, Strategy & Development (Centre LSD), with support from the Ford Foundation under the Side-by-Side Movement for Gender Justice Scale-up Project, will host a two-day Review and Agenda-Setting Session in Otukpo, Benue State, from February 10, 2025.
Speaking on the initiative, Mr. Nyong Essien, the project focal person at Centre LSD, emphasized that the session will serve as a platform to review past progress, assess achievements and challenges, and enhance stakeholder collaboration in addressing SGBV. The meeting will bring together key actors, including members of civil society, government representatives, faith leaders, and traditional rulers, to evaluate the project’s impact and set clear priorities for future interventions.
“This initiative is not just about reviewing past efforts but ensuring that our collective actions create a safer society for all. We must work together to eliminate SGBV and empower communities to champion gender justice,” Mr. Essien stated.
Centre LSD calls on all stakeholders, policymakers, and community members to actively participate in this crucial discussion and join the movement to ensure a violence-free society. Those unable to attend in person are encouraged to engage and follow updates via Centre LSD’s social media platforms.
