The African Centre for Leadership, Strategy and Development (Centre LSD) shall with other critical stakeholders validate a draft policy brief on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, in furtherance of its project, “Advocacy for the Clean Up of the Niger Delta and the Revamp of the Ecosystem,” supported by Global Green GrantFund.

The policy brief which provides updated information on the devastation and need for ecosystem revamp in the Niger Delta, particularly in Ogoni Land,  aims to draw the attention of government and oil sector stakeholders on the need to reverse the ecocide caused by decades of oil exploration and exploitation.

A release by the Project Lead, Mr. Lawal Amodu, said Centre LSD has been engaging the Niger Delta clean-up issues for over a decade now, adding that the Global Green Grant will enable the Centre to deepen advocacy and engagement with government agencies and impacted communities to seek lasting solutions to the environmental problems.

It further said that the validation event will feature a press briefing and draw participants from key stakeholder groups, including members of the Coalition for the Clean Up of Niger Delta (CCND), Cordaid partners, community gatekeepers, and impacted communities.
