The Police Command in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) said it has invited a complainant who was allegedly extorted by some personnel of the command to tender an official statement.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the FCT, SP Josephine Adeh, made this known in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.
She stated that the invitation followed a video being circulated on social media, alleging that police officers of the command extorted an FCT resident of N40,000.
Adeh said the incident occurred along Wuye-Utako Road, by Salem Church in the FCT.
She added that “the officers depicted in the video had been identified and are in custody, while the command invites the complainant to tender statement regarding the incident to aid disciplinary action.

Adeh reiterated that the command would not tolerate any form of extortion, abuse of authority, misconduct, or unprofessional conduct by police personnel.
According to her, any officer found culpable after due investigation will be subjected to appropriate disciplinary and legal action in accordance with extant laws and regulations.
She urged the public to report cases of police misconduct and provide relevant information that would assist investigation.
Adeh pledged the commitment of the command to remain accountable, professional and ensure respect for the rights of all residents of the territory.
