
The Congress of University Academics (CONUA) and the National Civil Society Council of Nigeria (NCSCN) have congratulated Dr. (Hons.) Chris J. Maiyaki, former Acting Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), on the conferment of an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Management by Lincoln University of Malaysia.
In a statement issued on behalf of CONUA, Dr. Aminu Abdullahi Isyaku, National Liaison Officer of the Union, described the recognition as well deserved and a fitting tribute to Dr. Maiyaki’s longstanding contributions to the development and strengthening of Nigeria’s university system.
Dr. Isyaku noted that Dr. Maiyaki has played a significant role in advancing quality assurance, institutional governance, and policy reforms within Nigeria’s tertiary education sector during his years of service at the National Universities Commission.
“On behalf of the Congress of University Academics, I warmly congratulate Dr. Chris J. Maiyaki on this prestigious honour. He has remained a pillar of educational success in Nigeria and beyond, and this recognition by Lincoln University of Malaysia affirms his enduring impact on higher education development,” Dr. Isyaku stated.
Also congratulating Dr. Maiyaki, the Executive Director of the National Civil Society Council of Nigeria (NCSCN), Mr. Blessing Akinlosotu, described him as an icon of tertiary education in Nigeria and a dependable friend of civil society organizations advocating for the right to quality education.
Mr. Akinlosotu noted that Dr. Maiyaki has consistently demonstrated openness to engagement with civil society stakeholders and has supported initiatives aimed at expanding access, accountability, and equity within the education sector.
“This recognition reflects Dr. Maiyaki’s remarkable contributions to the growth of tertiary education in Nigeria. He has remained a respected partner of civil society advocates working toward the realization of educational rights and opportunities for all,” Akinlosotu stated.
