CORBON to collaborate with National Gas Expansion Programme (NGEP) Committee

The Chairman of the Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON) – Bldr. Samson Ameh Opaluwah fniob, in the company of the Registrar of the Council – Bldr. Adetunji Adeniran mni, led a delegation to visit the National Gas Expansion Programme Committee at the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources on July 25, 2025. The visit reaffirmed CORBON’s support for the federal government’s efforts to expand the country’s gas infrastructure.

During the visit, Bldr. Samson Opaluwah commended the committee’s progress in implementing the programme, which aims to increase access to clean energy, reduce carbon emissions, and drive economic growth. He emphasized CORBON’s commitment to collaborating with stakeholders to ensure safe and proper gas reticulation within buildings and housing estates throughout the country. This is premised on CORBON’s regulatory scope which encompasses the entire building life cycle – technology, construction and management.

The Chairman of the National Gas Expansion Programme Committee, Dr. Ibrahim M. Mohammed mni, welcomed the collaboration, highlighting the programme’s alignment with CORBON’s mission to promote safe and sustainable building practices. A joint committee was set up to develop a roadmap and timetable for the collaboration.

The proposed partnership aims to enhance safety, develop a skilled workforce, and establish standardized practices in the gas industry. CORBON’s expertise in building technology, construction, and management will complement NGEP’s goals, ensuring a comprehensive approach to gas infrastructure development.

The visit underscores the Seventh Council’s dedication to advance the frontiers of practice areas of Builders into the oil and gas sector by partnering with relevant Government agencies and industry players towards achieving Nigeria’s sustainable energy goals.
