The management of the National Steel Raw Materials Exploration Agency (NSRMEA) has dismissed allegations that its Chief Executive Officer, Mr Kolawole Ogunbiyi, is attempting to dispose of portions of the agency’s headquarters in Kaduna.
The allegation, circulated on social media by an unidentified individual or group, claimed that Ogunbiyi was seeking to excise some hectares of land within the agency’s headquarters at Malali, Kaduna, and sell them before the end of his tenure in October 2026.
The allegation further questioned whether the agency’s supervising authorities, including the Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shuaibu Audu, the Attorney-General of the Federation and Kaduna State land regulatory agencies, were aware of the alleged transaction.
However, in a swift response, the NSRMEA management described the allegation as “false in its entirety”, saying it was necessary to put the correct information about the agency in the public domain.
“No management of a federal agency can sell or go into any public-private partnership on any landed property of the agency without the approval or permission of the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC),” the agency stated.
It added that the NSRMEA management “has no power to sell or give away any land belonging to the agency.”
The management said it would continue to uphold the Federal Government’s commitment to transparency and best practices, while assuring the public that the agency remained open to enquiries about its activities.
“The agency will remain open to any group or individual who approaches it through responsible and formal channels for information regarding the activities of the management,” it said.
The NSRMEA management maintained that the agency’s management is not in any position to dispose of any landed property at its headquaters or anywhere else, stating that it does not have the authority to do so.
