The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Kano/Jigawa Area Command has handed over four suspects and a consignment of vandalised high-voltage power conductors worth N5.3 million to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kano on Monday.
Alhaji Dalhatu Abubakar, the Area Controller of the Command, who handed the suspects and items to the Corps, said the suspects were intercepted on Sept. 11, during a routine operation by the Customs patrol team.
He explained that the handover reflects the importance of inter-agency cooperation in protecting critical national infrastructure.
“This singular act of criminality has denied the affected communities water supply and electricity and hospitals, causing health complications, serious injuries and even deaths.
“We will pursue this case professionally and ensure those involved are brought to justice,” said.
He said that NCS and NSCDC are working together to curb acts of economic sabotage and protect public assets.
