The Federal Capital Territory Administration has commenced the promotion exercise for more than 13,000 civil servants in the FCT Administration and the Federal Capital Development Authority.
The Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Engr. Emeka Ezeh, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, saying the exercise was approved by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Ezeh said the promotion exercise, which began on Wednesday, July 1, would last for 10 days, with over 13,000 civil servants participating across 150 cadres and grade levels.
According to the statement, the exercise was approved in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu and is intended to advance the career progression of eligible officers in the FCT civil service.
The statement read, “As part of the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr President, the Honourable Minister of FCT, Barrister Nyesom Wike, has approved the promotion exercise for over 13,000 FCT Civil Servants for the year 2025.
“The exercise is expected to commence on July 1, 2026 for a period of ten days.”
Ezeh further disclosed that the minister had directed the commission to conclude the 2026 promotion exercise before the end of the year to ensure that all eligible officers had the opportunity to progress in the service.
“The Minister further directed the Commission to ensure that 2026 promotion is also conducted before the end of the year to ensure all eligible officers are given the opportunity to grow in the service. He directed the Commission to work with all relevant agencies of FCTA to ensure a hitchfree exercise such that all issues which arose from the previous exercise do not repeat themselves,” the statement added.
The commission chairman assured participants that adequate arrangements had been made to ensure a seamless exercise and urged candidates to remain patient throughout the Computer-Based Test promotion exercise.
He also noted that the FCT Civil Service Commission became the first civil service commission in the country to conduct a promotion exercise using Computer-Based Tests in 2024, barely six months after its inauguration in March of that year.
