Governor Sheriff, ex-Gov, Okowa, Delta dumps PDP for APC

In seismic shift, Sheriff, Okowa, Delta PDP move into APC

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and the entire Peoples Democratic Party structure in Delta State have resolved to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This resolution was reached at a meeting of leaders hosted by the state governor inside Government House in Asaba on Wednesday.

THE CONCLAVE has just confirmed the development, which has unsettled the original leaders of the APC in the state.

Already, Okowa has informed his constituents of his imminent departure from the party to the APC.

In a video that has surfaced online, Okowa was seen addressing his supporters, assuring them that the decision to switch parties was carefully considered and made in their best interest.

“Be assured that we will not go in the wrong direction; we will take the best direction, the best path for our people,” Okowa said, hinting at a new political alignment.

A formal reaction to the development, as learnt, would be issued soonest by some original leaders of the APC, particularly, a former Deputy Senate President and governorship candidate of the party in 2023 poll, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.

THE CONCLAVE reports that the formal decampment of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, former governor, Ifeanyi Okowa and the entire PDP state structure had been scheduled for Monday, next week, in Asaba.

On that occasion, the National Chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Ganduje, is scheduled to receive them into the party.
