Gwaram-Abuja Group commends Gov Badaru on road construction, seeks upgrade of hospital, power substation

A development-inclined socio-cultural association working for the development of Gwaram Federal Constituency, Gwaram Abuja Residents Association (GARA) has commended Governor Abubakar Badaru-led government of Jigawa State for fulfilling its campaign promise of constructing the 53-kilometer road connecting Gwaram to Bauchi, Gombe and Adamawa States, adding that a government that keeps its promise is a responsible government that should be commended.

“We wish to categorically state that the administration of Governor Abubakar Badaru has shown itself as a responsible and development-oriented government by showing commitment to the development of critical infrastructure that will facilitate trade in the state, a development that will pave way for economic prosperity of Jigawa state,” the association said.

Discussing the economic significance of constructing the Gwara Bauchi-Gombe Expressway, he said: “The road has been constructed and it will bring us a lot of advantages namely, as farmers and traders, the people of Gwaram will be able we transport their goods to other cities and towns for sale,” stating that before the construction of the road, it was difficult for us to transport our cash crops to the markets.

In a statement signed by the Chairman of GARA, Alh Mohammed Hamza, the association appealed to the government to come to the aid of the people by upgrading the Gwaram Health Center to a General Hospital, noting that he people of Jigawa State will derive great health benefits if the health centre is upgraded.

While appealing for the special intervention of the governor in the much needed execution of the Gwaram power Substation, Alh Hamza discussed repeated efforts to execute the project saying that “the National Assembly initially made substantial budgetary allocation for the project in the 2020 budget.” He said: “I can confirm to you that a substantial budgetary allocation was made for the Gwaram Power Substation project in Year 2020 budget, but no progress has been made regarding the project, till date.”
He appealed to Governor Abubakar Badaru to personally intervene in the quest to ensure that realization of the Gwaram Power substation, saying that the project has suffered several setbacks.

‘The bottom-line is that we want His Excellency, Alhaji Abubakar Badaru to intervene in the various infrastructural needs already mentioned, and we are sure that they will bring various social and economic benefits to the people,’ he added.
