In an effort to curb the activities of kidnapping, the Commandant of Oyo State Security Network Agency, code-named ‘Operation Amotekun’, Col. Olayinka Olayanju (rtd), has said there were no clashes between his men and members of Miyetti Allah in Ibarapa and Oke Ogun areas of Oyo State.
He said instead, Amotekun and Miyetti Allah are in joint operation to tackle kidnappers.
Olayanju said his operatives raided the forests of Ibarapa and Oke Ogun on Saturday morning to rid the areas of kidnappers and other criminals, adding that operation around the forests was embarked on following reports of killing and kidnapping.
The commandant, addressing reporters in Ibadan, said his men launched six operations in four local governments, adding that the team in Aiyete was attacked inside the forest by suspected bandits, three of who were killed by his men.
He said the operations were supported by leaders of Miyetti Allah in the areas, noting that a number of herders were part of the operations.
Olayanju, who paraded one of the suspected kidnap kingpins, Sanni Bello, said he was arrested in the forest around Aiyegun axis in Iwajowa Local Government.
He said Amotekun worked with Miyetti Allah, whose families had suffered kidnapping in recent times.
