The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Kogi has concluded its 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream II Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme.
The programme ended with an exhibition of skills and products acquired by corps members during the orientation exercise.
The exhibition, held at the NYSC Orientation Camp, Asaya on Saturday, was witnessed by the NYSC Kogi Coordinator, Mrs Chika Chris-Moneke, and other officials of the scheme.
Chris-Moneke congratulated the corps members for successfully completing the programme and urged them to continue developing and applying the skills acquired during the orientation exercise.
She also encouraged the corps members to explore opportunities that could enable them to turn the skills into sustainable sources of livelihood.
The state coordinator, thereafter, declared the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream II SAED Skills Acquisition Programme closed, urging the corps members to make productive use of the knowledge and skills acquired.
Head of SAED, Mrs Patience Eguakide, commended corps members for their active participation in the programme, noting that the skills acquired could provide opportunities for self-reliance and access to grants.
Truthng reports that Chris-Moneke and the officials toured the exhibition stands, where corps members demonstrated skills acquired in various areas.
The areas include solar energy; Information and Communication Technology (ICT) professional courses; barbing and hairdressing; leatherwork; frame making; knitting and crocheting.
Other areas include Adire making; fashion designing; make-up and ‘’gele’’ (headtie); cosmetology; agro-allied services; construction; customising and printing; education; food processing and preservation, as well as automobile services.
The programme also featured inter-platoon competitions in various skill areas.
Platoon One emerged winner in Customising and Printing, while Platoon Five won the Fashion and Design category.
Platoon Six emerged winner in Food Processing and Preservation and also won first place in the Make-up and Gele category.
