KOGI: Yahaya Bello administration has brought governance close to the grassroots, says Ohere

The Special Adviser to the Governor of Kogi State on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Engr. Dr. Abubakar Ohere has described the Yahaya Bello administration as people-oriented, stating that it aims at improve lives of the people and ensure sustainability of developments. According to Ohere, it was in this mood that the appointees of the administration celebrated the Eidul-Fitr.

The Special Adviser who was warmly received by communities in Ebiraland for the Sallah celebrations visited leaders of various social groups including political, traditional, religious, youth and women societies among others.

In a related development, Engr. Dr. Abubakar Ohere has tasked the public to massively turn up for the ongoing National Identity Card Registration saying that it is crucial for the determination of the population of the constituency. He urged unemployed youths to register for the N-POWER project adding that it will help government to engage the youths legitimately.

In a statement signed by Ohere’s media aide, Mr. Ismaila Hassan, made available to our correspondent in Lokoja, Ohere re-emphasised the commitment of the Yahaya Bello administration to reposition the state, adding that efforts have been made across the sectors to ensure sustainable development in the interest of improving the lives of the people.

The statement quoted the Special Adviser as saying that his “regular homecoming is in tandem with the policy of the New Direction Agenda of Governor Yahaya Bello to bring governance to the grassroots, and ensure all-inclusive governance where appointees serve as effective connections between government and the people.”

According to Ohere, it is important that leaders ensure regular touch with the electorate in order to enable leaders practically evaluate the state of welfare of the people.

In Lafia Obesa Ward, Engr Ohere listened to various groups and proffered solutions to community needs.

Ohere ordered the immediate excavation of a portion of the drainage in the area, which has been turned in to a dumping site for years, causing gulley erosion and thereby posing potential threat to nearby homes.”

Ohere also responded to the quest for portable water by sinking of two motorised boreholes in decentralised locations of the communities,” adding that the effort was to complement the effort being made by the Yahaya Bello administration in provision of social amenities.

In his meeting with local government employees and pensioners, the Special Adviser reassured the public that Yahaya Bello administration was committed to the welfare of civil servants in the state, saying that the payment of salary arrears during the Sallah was an effort to justify the screening exercise.

He enjoined the good people to continue to pray for Governour Yahaya Bello stating that the onerous task of fixing the state is before him.

On the last day of the Sallah break, Engr. Ohere chaired the naming ceremony of the children of one of the ardent supporters and pillar of the Governor, Muhammed Tinko who is the Central Coordinator of GYB.
