
Maj.-Gen. Abubakar Wase on Wednesday assumed Command as the 44th General Officer Commanding (GOC), 1 Division Nigerian Army, Kaduna.
Truthng recalls that with the recent posting and appointments by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, Wase became the GOC and.Commander, Sector 1 Joint Task Force Operation FANSAN YAMMA.
Wase took over from Maj.-Gen. Mayirenso Saraso and the handing over was held at the Headquarters 1 Division, Kaduna.
The outgoing GOC, Saraso, expressed gratitude to God Almighty and the COAS for the privilege to serve in the division as GOC.
He further appreciated officers and soldiers of the division for their support during his tenure.
Saraso urged them to accord same and even more support to his successor for the overall benefit of the Nigerian Army and the entire country.
Also, the new GOC charged officers and soldiers to be professional in discharging their duties in line with the Chief of Army Staff’s Command Philosophy.
Truthng reports that that the event featured the decoration of the new GOC with 1 Division insignia.
There were also the handing over of the new command flag to the incoming GOC, hoisting of the new division’s flag at the Quarter Guard, which signified the beginning of a new era.
