NDLEA arraigns man, 29 over unlawful storage of 149.6kg Cannabis

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), on Wednesday, arraigned Abdulrahaman Shuaibu, 25, before a Federal High Court in Ibadan, over alleged unlawful possession of 149.6kg of  marijuana.

Shuaibu, however, pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of unlawful dealing and possession of narcotic substance.

Counsel to NDLEA, Mr D.O. Otunla, prayed the court to remand the defendant in  Agodi correctional facility pending bail application.

Consequently, Justice Nkeonye Maha ordered Shuaibu to be remanded in custody and adjourned the suit until June 8 for hearing.

Earlier, Otunla told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Jan. 31, at Kisi Town, Irepo Local Government Area of Oyo State.

According to the prosecutor, NDLEA operatives arrested the defendant after he allowed his house to be used in storing 149.6kg of Cannabis Sativa.

He said that the offences contravene the provision of sections 14 and 11(C ) of the NDLEA Act Cap N30 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.
