The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Osun Command, on Wednesday decorated 84 newly promoted officers with their new ranks.
This is disclosed in a statement issued in Osogbo by the Command’s spokesperson, Esther Fadare.
According to Fadare, the promoted officers comprise 61 senior officers and 23 junior officers.
She noted that the ceremony was attended by families and friends of the officers, as well as representatives of other security agencies.
The NDLEA Commander in the state, Olayinka Joe-Fadile, congratulated the officers and reminded them that promotion comes with greater responsibility.
He emphasised the importance of discipline, ethical conduct, and unwavering commitment to the agency’s core values of integrity, professionalism, accountability, and dedication.
Joe-Fadile also stressed the need for officers to maintain proper dressing, noting that discipline is first reflected in appearance.
He further stated that the fight against drug trafficking requires officers who are not only elevated in rank but also distinguished by exemplary character.
The commander warned that the command would not tolerate any act capable of bringing the agency into disrepute through unethical conduct or unprofessional behaviour.
He urged the officers to uphold the highest standards of integrity in the discharge of their duties.
Joe-Fadile described the newly decorated ranks as symbols of hard work, discipline, dedication, and countless sacrifices.
He, however, cautioned against complacency, noting that drug cartels are not intimidated by new ranks but by renewed determination and unwavering resolve.
He charged the officers to carry the spirit of their promotion into every part of the state, making integrity their strongest weapon and courage their shield.
