‘The Nigeria’s Female Parliamentary Caucus sincerely sympathise with the good people of Tanzania on the loss of their immediate President, Mr John Magufuli, who died on Wednesday,’ a statement from the caucus has said.
The statement, which was signed by the Board of Trustees of the Caucus, congratulated the new president of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan. The statement said: ‘We also use this opportunity to congratulate Samia Suluhu Hassan, the new President of Tanzania, who assumed office on March 19, 2021, who until then was the Vice President.
‘We are confident of your ability to lead based on your wide experience which spanned through the Parliament and the executive arms of Government.’
‘The Nigerian Female Legislators Caucus congratulates you for being a shining light that African women can once again focus on.’
‘Women in Africa are gradually inching towards the mark, and breaking the glass ceiling. Your intervention, especially on gender issues, will surely lead to the highly desired increase in number of women in the political space.’
