The Special Adviser on Foreign Direct Investment to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr Obafemi Bajomo, has said that Nigeria international airshow would boost the nation`s economic growth.
Bajomo made the assertion on Wednesday in Abuja during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
According to him, the airshow scheduled to hold from Dec. 2 to Dec. 4, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport will contribute significantly to Nigeria’s economic growth, global reputation and aviation industry development.
“The airshow will attract foreign investment, boost tourism and create jobs, thereby stimulating economic growth. It is expected to attract investors across multiple industries not just the aviation.
“This inaugural event aims to promote Nigeria’s aviation industry, attract foreign investment, and showcase the country’s potentials as a hub for aerospace development in Africa.
“The event aligns with Nigeria’s commitment to the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM), aiming to boost intra-African trade and connectivity,’’ he said.
Bajomo said that there would be opportunities for business-to-business matchmaking, panel discussions and an industry awards ceremony to foster collaboration and innovation within the sector.
On global exposure, he said that the event would place Nigeria on the global aviation map, highlighting the nation’s commitment to innovation, safety and growth in the industry.
“The event will underscore the need for world-class facilities, potentially fast-tracking infrastructural upgrades at Nigerian airports. The airshow will foster partnerships between Nigerian companies and international firms, accelerating growth and development in the aviation sector.
“The event will provide opportunities for Nigerian professionals to learn from global experts, adopt best practices and enhance their industry expertise.
“Also, the event will provide a platform for Nigerian aviation technology, parts manufacturing, and local engineering to showcase their capabilities,’’ he said.
Bajomo commended Mr Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, for his efforts to ensure the event holds in partnership with the Nigerian Air Force (NAF).
He said that the minister had assured the regulatory support from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to achieve smooth process during the event.
He reiterated that the attention brought by the airshow would encourage policymakers and aviation authorities to strengthen regulatory frameworks toward making Nigeria a more attractive market for foreign airlines.
