Nottingham Forest have dismissed Sean Dyche as head coach, the club confirmed on Thursday, marking another managerial change in a turbulent 2025-2026 Premier League season.
In an official statement, the club said: “Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that Sean Dyche has been relieved of his duties as head coach.
“We would like to thank Sean and his staff for their efforts during their time at the Club and we wish them the best of luck for the future. We will be making no further comment at this time.”
Dyche was appointed in October 2025 on a contract set to run until the summer of 2027, following what the club described as “a thorough recruitment process led by Global Head of Football, Edu Gaspar, and Global Technical Director, George Syrianos.”
His exit makes him the second Forest manager to leave the club this season. Earlier in October 2025, Nottingham Forest parted ways with Ange Postecoglou after an eight match winless run.
When announcing , Forest stated: “Nottingham Forest is delighted to confirm the appointment of Ange Postecoglou as the Club’s First Team Head Coach.”
When Forest announced Postecoglou’s arrival on 9 September 2025, the club highlighted his extensive experience, including league titles with Brisbane Roar and Yokohama F. Marinos, as well as domestic success with Celtic, where he secured a double in his first season and a treble in his second.
Postecoglou was also nominated for FIFA World Coach of the Year in 2023. However, his experience amounted to nothing at Nottingham Forest.
Dyche’s departure follows a difficult run of results. He failed to win any of his last three matches in charge of Forest, including a goalless home draw against Wolves on Wednesday night in Matchday 26.
Across six Premier League games in 2026, Forest recorded two wins, two defeats and three draws under his leadership.
The club currently sit 17th in the Premier League table with 27 points, just three points above the relegation zone. West Ham occupy 18th place with 24 points, Burnley sit 19th on 18 points, while Wolves remain bottom with nine points.
As of now, Nottingham Forest have not announced Dyche’s replacement, leaving uncertainty over who will take charge as the club battles to avoid relegation.
