The Obaro Campaign Organisation has condemned the alleged vandalisation of campaign billboards and promotional materials belonging to Chief Momoh Yusuf Obaro across Kogi Central Senatorial District, describing the development as a threat to peaceful political engagement.
In a statement issued by its director general, Hon. Kokori Siaka, the group said the affected billboards and flex banners were lawfully mounted to promote Obaro’s 2027 senatorial ambition under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The organisation described the destruction of the materials by unidentified persons as unlawful and provocative, warning that such actions could heighten political tension in the district if not addressed promptly.
“Posters and banners are non-living materials; they do not vote. Their purpose is purely to inform and create awareness. However, their destruction is capable of triggering avoidable reactions among supporters,” the statement said.
While noting that Obaro, a member of the APC and Secretary General of APC-UK, enjoys support across political divides, the campaign organisation said the incidents appear to be the handiwork of “desperate elements” seeking to destabilise the political atmosphere.
The group called on the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to investigate the incidents, identify and prosecute those responsible, and strengthen surveillance around public spaces and political materials.
It also urged political leaders, youths, and stakeholders in Kogi Central to shun violence, intimidation, and destructive conduct, stressing that democracy should be driven by ideas rather than hostility.
Reaffirming its commitment to a peaceful and issue-based campaign, the organisation warned that it would not ignore actions capable of undermining lawful political activities.
