Edo state governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has kept sealed leaps over alleged receipt of 13 percent oil derivation fund, being backlog reportedly paid to the state by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration.
River state governor, Nyesom Wike last week in Port Harcourt, said the massive project he has carried out in the state was made possible by the over N9 trillion derivation fund released by the present government to all the Niger Delta states.
Wike’s remark makes it appear as if other governors in the Niger Delta region, including Edo state, had concealed the information about the receipt of the money.
A messages to the Mr. Chris Nehikare, Edo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, requesting the government comment if it received the fund or not was not responded to.
The state chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) Monday urged Governor Godwin Obaseki to give account of the 13 per cent derivation fund.
State chairman of APC, Col David Imuse (retd.) who made the call, said Obaseki should tell Edo people what he has done with the state share of the money.
“We call on Governor Obaseki to tell Edo people the total amount the state government received as 13 per cent derivation funds as arrears dating back to 1999.
“We also like to see the development projects in the oil and gas producing communities of Edo state which he dedicated the arrears of the 13 per cent derivation funds for, if any. We want a full list, the amounts involved and the contractors who did the jobs,” he said.
