The police on Monday arraigned a 37-year-old assistant auditor, Rufai Temitope, for allegedly stealing N3.56 million from Royal Prince Supermarket in Lagos.
Temitope, who resides in Ikotun, Lagos, appeared before an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court on a charge of stealing.
The prosecutor, ASP Donjour Perezi, told the court that the alleged offence occurred between June 3 and July 31, 2026.
Perezi alleged that Temitope fabricated invoices for goods worth N3.56 million while working in the supermarket’s audit department at Ifako-Gbagada, Lagos.
He said the defendant allegedly transferred the money to an account belonging to one Okoh Nkiruka without the company’s knowledge or consent.
The prosecution told the court that the supermarket’s manager, Boboye Moses, reported the incident at Ifako Police Station on Aug. 1.
The alleged offence contravenes Section 287(7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge before Magistrate A.O. Akinde.
The court granted Temitope bail in the sum of N1 million, with two sureties.
The magistrate adjourned the case until Dec. 2, 2026, for further proceedings.
