President Tinubu appoints Yakubu Dogara as Chairman of National Credit Guarantee Company

Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, as Chairman of the newly established National Credit Guarantee Company Limited (NCGC).

The NCGC, backed by an initial capital of ₦100 billion, is a strategic initiative aimed at improving access to credit for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), small corporates, manufacturers, and consumers nationwide.

The NCGC will serve as a catalyst for economic empowerment by providing credit guarantees that reduce lending risks for financial institutions.

In addition to Dogara’s appointment, Mr. Bonaventure Okhaimo was named Managing Director/CEO, with Mrs. Tinoula Aigwedo and Dr. Ezekiel Oseni appointed as Executive Directors.

The board also includes Ms. Yeside Kazeem and representatives from NSIA, BOI, CrediCorp, and MOFI.

This move underscores President Tinubu’s commitment to inclusive economic growth through financial empowerment.

By de-risking credit and strengthening financial confidence, the NCGC is expected to boost entrepreneurship, support industrial development, and create employment, especially for youth and women across the country.
