President Tinubu To Declare Open AFNIS 2026 As African Leaders Push New Resource Framework

The narrative of African resource management is undergoing a fundamental shift from competition to collective development as African leaders, ministers, investors and industry stakeholders prepare to converge on Abuja for the 5th edition of AFNIS 2026, anchored by Romulus Mining.

The summit, scheduled to hold from June 23 to 25, 2026, at the State House Conference Centre, is themed “One Africa. One Resource Vision” and is expected to move beyond traditional policy dialogue towards institutionalising a new framework for economic interdependence and collective development across Africa.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to declare the summit open, while Nigerian and African ministers are billed to provide strategic insights into the future of mining, energy and industrial integration on the continent.

At the heart of AFNIS 2026 is the 3rd high-level ministerial and CEO roundtable, where African leaders are expected to unveil the Mutual Assured Development (MADE) Framework, a continental initiative designed to promote resource cooperation, industrial growth and shared prosperity among African nations.

The framework is being championed by the Africa Minerals Strategy Group (AMSG), an intergovernmental organisation established in January 2024 with 19 founding member states and 12 collaborating African countries.

Nigeria currently chairs the organisation through the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Oladele Alake, while Moses Micheal Engadu serves as secretary-general.

Organisers said the summit would serve as a platform for African leaders to lay the foundation for what they described as a “strategic leap” towards collective economic assurance and long-term industrial transformation.

AFNIS has also been positioned as a major investment facilitation platform, with organisers stating that the summit has already helped to action more than $500 million in deals through domestic capital mobilisation.

The event will feature a Technical and Investment Day focused on “Project Readiness”, with discussions expected around AI-driven exploration technology, project financing and the structuring of debt-for-industrialisation swaps.

In addition, specialised bilateral meeting rooms will provide opportunities for investors to engage directly with participating governments and private sector players in pursuit of strategic partnerships and investment agreements.

Organisers added that by integrating mining, oil and gas, and power sectors through the lens of mutual development, AFNIS 2026 is seeking to build the financial and regulatory architecture required for a truly integrated African industrial future.
