
The Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Solid Minerals Development Fund (SMDF), Hajiya Fatima Umaru Shinkafi, will on Wednesday deliver the keynote address at the maiden Faculty of Physical and Earth Sciences (FPES) Annual Lecture Series at the University of Lagos.
The lecture, scheduled for 10:00 a.m. at the J.F. Ade-Ajayi (Main) Auditorium, is themed: “Industry and Academia: Understanding the Past to Improve the Future Interdisciplinary Collaboration and Engagement.”
The event is expected to bring together leading figures from academia, government and industry to examine practical approaches to strengthening collaboration, fostering innovation and promoting sustainable national development.
As keynote speaker, Hajiya Shinkafi is expected to share insights on deepening partnerships between academic institutions and industry, with particular emphasis on translating research into practical solutions that support economic growth and national development.
The lecture will also feature a panel of discussants drawn from leading public and private sector organisations, who will contribute perspectives on building stronger linkages between research institutions and industry to enhance innovation and competitiveness.
Organisers said the annual lecture series is intended to serve as a platform for intellectual engagement, knowledge exchange and policy dialogue on issues critical to Nigeria’s development.
Members of the university community and the general public have been invited to attend the maiden edition of the lecture series.
