Terrorism: Bandits kill 2, abduct pregnant woman, 7 others in Kaduna communities

In another sad incident , bandits in the early hours of Sunday abducted a pregnant woman who came to visit her sick mother and seven other residents at Lema community, Mando opposite Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) in Kaduna state.

Just as bandits in large numbers attacked Ganun-Gari and Dawakin Bassa in Birnin Gwari local government of Kaduna state on Sunday killing two people, injuring three others, while abducting many people from the communities.

The bandits stormed the Mando village around 1:00am on Sunday and started shooting sporadically into the air before ransacking the three houses from which the pregnant woman and seven other people were gathered and taken away into the forest.

One of the residents, Musa Danladi, said the residents were all afraid to step out of their houses because of gunshots. “They came around 1:am and took away eight residents including a pregnant woman that came to visit her sick mother in the community. This is not the first time bandits would attack our community.”

Other residents however called on the Kaduna state government to come to their rescue. As at the time of going to press, Kaduna state government is yet to comment on the incident.

Also, on Sunday afternoon, bandits in large numbers stormed Birnin Gwari villages of Ganun-Gari and Dawakin Bassa in Birnin Gwari Emirate killing two people, injuring three others, while abducting many people from the villages.

According to the Birnin Gwari Vanguard for Security and Good Governance, the bandits attacked Ganun-Gari and Dawakin Bassa where they killed two people and abducted many others from their homes. Among those killed was a gallant member of the Vigilante, Makeri Mairana and a psychologically depressed young man, popularly called Aminu.

The bandits, who came in from Zamfara Forest through Tudun Wada – Sabon Layi in western part of Birnin Gwari, embarked on a looting spree at Ganun-Gari near Dawakin Bassa after they ransacked neighbouring village of Ungwar Baki.

They had rustled cattle and took away foodstuffs at Ungwar Baki, where some people were either killed or injured but the casualty figure is yet unknown at this time.

The armed bandits, while at Dawakin Bassa released heavy gunfire with gunshots heard at Ungwar Zakara and Kubo villages. Following their operation which took hours, they were said to have moved towards Zamfara forest through Tudun Wada – Sabon Layi and Katakaki in Kakangi District of Birnin Gwari Emirate.
