Two arraigned for allegedly stealing man’s property worth N4m

On Thursday, two men—Williams Ademola, 30, and Ajibola Alabi, 35—were charged with theft of N4 million worth of property before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan.

The duo, whose addresses were not provided, was charged with conspiracy and stealing, to which they pleaded not guilty.

According to the prosecutor, Inspector Olusegun Adegboye, the defendants allegedly committed the crime in the Apata neighborhood of Ibadan between August 2023 and May 2024.

He alleged that the defendants stole the property and valuables belonging to one Ayodeji Alexandra, of whom one Aderemi Olaoye was overseeing.

According to him, the valuables include: television, fridge compressor, generator, jewelry, submersible borehole pump, hair dryers, and iron rods, among others.

Adegboye said the offences contravened Sections 516 and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The magistrate, Mrs. S. Babalola granted the defendants bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Babalola thereafter adjourned the case until July 9 for a hearing.
