Former Minister of Aviation, Dr. Kema Chikwe on Friday joined well-wishers to extol the virtues of the former Chief of Staff to the government of Imo State, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu, stating that he is a bridge builder of no mean repute.
The former minister, who spoke at the 50th birthday celebration of Ugwumba Uche Nwosu in Abuja, on Friday, said it is not surprising that several dignitaries honored the Nwosu, stating that he is ‘a very friendly and respectful young man.’
‘I will say a few words about Chief Uche,’ the former minister said, and continued, ‘Uche is a bridge builder, he is a unifier, and I call Uche Ojemba Onwelu… I am not surprised to see the galaxy of personalities who are here to honor Uche at fifty.’
Further extolling the virtues of the celebrant, Dr. Chikwe recalled a consistent commitment of the celebrant toward her family, saying: ‘Few years ago when Uche was in Owerri, every November 24th if I was not in town, Uche would get a cake, he would buy drinks, get food, and go to the village to celebrate my husband’s birthday with him,’ stating that she is very happy to reciprocate the gesture.
Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu commended Ugwumba Uche Nwosu for his commitment to national development, stating that the future of the country depends on people like Chief Nwosu.
According to Kalu, ‘Nwosu is one of the strong men in the southeast with great attributes of leadership,’ adding that Nigeria needs people like him.
“He is doing well already, at fifty he has achieved a lot but I know the task is still ahead. He has the attributes of great leadership and my generation is looking for people like him to play a significant role in our nation building efforts” Kalu emphasized.
“I always like coming to celebrate with my generation because truly the tomorrow of Nigeria depends on people like this with credibility, descent and integrity, especially coming from my zone in the southeast, we are rallying around each other to strengthen each order in our various careers,” the Deputy Speaker stressed.
The deputy speaker also described the celebrant as a peace loving fellow whose wealth of experience has brought a lot of significant changes in the public and private sectors worthy of emulation.
On her part, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu described the celebrant as a man of peace and the dream of the people.
Ambassador Ojukwu described Ugwumba Nwosu as an extraordinary human being, ideologically, consistent and always there for his friends and subordinates come rain and sunshine.
On his part, the former Governor of Imo state and also the father in-law to the celebrant described Ugwumba Nwosu as a rising star from the south east because of his hard work, Vision, dedication and humility, adding that he wasn’t surprised because those were the attributes he saw in him many years ago.
While thanking God for attaining the age of 50 the celebrant who was the Chief of Staff to the former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, said it has been fifty years from grass to grace adding that his life is for Nigerian youths and he will continue to support them.
“I want to thank God for my life, for the blessings of God. It is a fifty years of grass to grace and a fifty years of service to humanity” Nwosu stated.
“I will keep supporting Nigerian youths. I said to myself, if God blesses me, I will use it for humanity, especially the youths in Nigeria”.
“I was in the streets, I know what it means to sleep and wake up without food. My life is made for the young ones and once I have it, I will dedicate it to the young people and the youths in Nigeria” Ugwumba Nwosu emphasized.
He advised Nigerian youths to always believe in themselves, adding that their destiny is in their hands.
“Don’t wait for anybody, don’t be ashamed of what you do for a living, if you are someone that is doing sachet water do it well, barber, do it well, above all remember your destiny in your hands and I want them to drive it to their destination.”
Ugwumba Nwosu who has contributed immensely to youths empowerment through his Non Governmental Organization, especially the less privileged urged Nigerian youths not to give up on themselves but embrace resilience, peace, patience and focus in their daily endeavors for excellence.
Nwosu, however called on the youths and all well-meaning Nigerians not to relent in their legitimate sources of income and shun every form of anti- social vices capable of disrupting the peace and development of the country.
Highlights of event was the cutting of birthday cake by the celebrant and family anchored by the former Senator representing Kogi West, Dino Malaye, cultural displays and goodwill messages from the former President of the Senate Ayim Pius Ayim, Ken Nnamani, past Governors among others
Dignitaries at the ceremony also include the 2023 presidential candidate of Labour Party Peter Obi, former senate presidents Ken Nnamani, Anyim Pius Anyim, Senator Dino Melaye, Emeka Okonkwo, better known as E-Money, National Assembly member, and others.
