African Natural Resources and Mines Limited (ANRML), a Group Company of the African Industries Group (AIG) has convened free health checkup camp for the people of its host community of Gujeni Village, Kaduna State.
The organization also distributed medical supplies to the people of Gujeni community.
The exercise was part of a week-long set of Social Impact activities undertaken by the company to commemorate Year 2024 World Health Day.
A statement, signed by the Public Relations Officer of the company, Mr. Babatunde Olanrewaju Akeem, said the objective of the camp was to give medical support the people of Gujeni community.
“The camp aimed to provide medical care and treatment to the people of the host community, create awareness and educate people about healthcare, identify and address health issues in a community as well as promote preventive healthcare,” the statement said, adding that prevention was a major focus of the exercise.
The camp, which was convened by the company, also aimed to provide access to medical care and treatment to people who cannot afford it.
Discussing the ANRML free health checkup, which is the most recent effort of the company in Corporate Social Responsibility, the statement explained that the camp was completely managed by in-house doctors, adding that more than two hundred people of Gujeni community, mostly women, children and elderly benefited from the camp.
While saying that the team of doctors and medical staff from ANRML undertook health checkups of individuals to educate them about their health status, current ailments, the medical team also prescribed the right medications to address health challenges, adding that change in lifestyle is necessary to keep fit.
While thanking community leaders for adding value to the effort by participating in the process, the company pledged continued commitment to the wellbeing of Gujeni community.
“We are glad that local leaders also graced the event and took part in the initiative,” the statement said, adding that the participation of community leaders is a sign of gratitude.
While assuring that more of such health camps and activities will be conducted for the benefit of the people of Gujeni community, the company expressed delight in the harmonious relationship between the company and the community.
A beneficiary from the host community, Happy Dendlame commended the company, saying: “I want to appreciate ANRML for their support with free medical checkup and free medication,” stating that the company has made effort to improve the standard of living of the people of the community.
“The African Natural Resources and Mines Limited has shown genuine concern for the health of the people of Gujeni community,” she added. “So, may God bless the company and reward them”
African Industries Group has long been working towards economic and social development within communities where its companies operate within Nigeria.
The group looks at improving the quality of life for individuals within the various communities through its three social impact verticals of Community Development, Women Empowerment and Health and Hygiene.
For the Gujeni community, ANRML has also undertaken other initiatives like digging boreholes with overhead tank facility for drinking water, installing transformers and electric poles for electricity supply and laying of rural roads with concrete culverts for transportation among various other things.
