Yari chides security over security lapses

Governor Abdul’Aziz Yari of Zamfara state has lambasted security agencies for the recent return of armed banditry and other security lapses in the state.

The governour expressed the disappointment on Tuesday while briefing journalists, shortly after stakeholders meeting at the Government House, Gusau. He criticised the low response of the security operatives despite the fact that his administration purchased and donated 370 operational vehicles for the security operatives between 2011 and 2015.

The governor lamented the recent deadly raid on the office of the Federal Road Safety Commission in Tsafe Local Government Area of the state, and condemned the way in which the attack was handled by the security operatives.

He added that information shows that some armed bandits from the notorious Buhari Tsoho camp are partly responsible for the recent deadly attacks in the state, assuring that the state government will not relent in its effort to ensure security of lives and property of the people of the state.

Yari said the peace dialogue embarked upon by the state government remains the best option for conflict resolution. “After a peace deal was struck between the bandits and the state government an amnesty was granted to them and they were asked to surrender their weapons, but some defiant ones among them more especially those from the  camp of the notorious cattle rustling kingpin known as Buharin Daji have decided to breach the terms of the agreement,” he added.
