A group, codenamed “One Voice Group”, has taken the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise directly to the doorsteps of residents in rural communities of Plateau.
Mr Aaron Arigbe, the Founder of the group, who spoke during the exercise on Monday in Shendam Local Government Area (LGA), said that the exercise is ongoing across the 17 LGAs of the state.
He said that the exercise was organised in collaboration with the Plateau Unity Touching Lives Welfare Foundation.
Aaron said that the initiative, aimed at complementing the efforts of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), would ensure no eligible voter is left out.
He explained that with the state’s population spread widely across remote terrains, the initiative is not just timely but necessary towards strengthening democratic inclusion.
“Our mission is to ensure no eligible citizen is left out, by bringing registration services into villages, settlements and hard-to-reach communities.
“Under this plan, mobile units operated in partnership with INEC officials are moving from one community to another, targeting areas where limited transport and long travel distances have discouraged voter participation.
“The door-to-door strategy is expected to reduce the long-standing barriers that rural dwellers, the elderly and young first-time voters face when attempting to register,”he said.
Arigbe added that the campaign reflects a commitment to citizens’ rights and the integrity of elections in Nigeria.
“This is about strengthening democracy and giving power to the people.
“The voice of every Nigerian matters, and we want every Plateau resident to participate.
“The goal is for every eligible voter to confidently say, ‘I am registered and I will vote.
