The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has accused the African Democratic Congress (ADC) of owing its staff more than 12 months’ salaries, challenging the party to explain the alleged arrears.
In a statement on Monday, the council’s spokesperson, Dele Alake, accused the ADC National Working Committee, led by Senator David Mark as chairman and Rauf Aregbesola as secretary, of neglecting the welfare of party workers.
Alake described the alleged non-payment as unacceptable, arguing that a party unable to meet its obligations to its employees should be questioned over its capacity to manage public affairs.
He said the development raised questions about the ADC’s claims to offer Nigerians an alternative to the ruling party.
The APC spokesperson also accused former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar of having a record of delayed salary payments to employees of his businesses, including Gotel Communications.
Alake alleged that workers at the media organisation and other businesses associated with Atiku had previously gone months without salaries and staged protests over unpaid wages and other entitlements.
He also criticised Aregbesola’s record as governor of Osun State, alleging that his administration introduced partial salary payments for workers and failed to pay pensioners for extended periods.
According to Alake, the alleged record of the ADC leaders on workers’ welfare raised concerns about their commitment to protecting employees’ interests.
The APC campaign council urged Nigerians to scrutinise the ADC’s record on workers’ welfare and accountability ahead of the 2027 general elections.
It also called on voters to reject the party and its candidates, arguing that the alleged failure to pay staff undermined its claims of being prepared to govern the country.
The allegations were contained in a statement signed by Alake on October 26, 2026. The statement did not include a response from the ADC, Atiku or Aregbesola to the claims.
