Court adjourns alleged theft case against security guard until June 29

A Kubwa Magistrates’ Court on Monday, adjourned the case of a 33-year-old security guard, Mohammed Alih, accused of stealing and selling his employer’s property until June 29.

Truthng reports that Alih, who was employed by Ms Loveth Nwafor, was arraigned by the police on June 9.

NAN further reports that during the proceedings of June 9, Alih informed the court that he had no legal representation and would defend himself.

However, a lawyer who was present in court, Mr T.M. Agoziem, volunteered to represent the defendant in the interest of fairness and justice.

The Magistrate, Mrs Oyepoju Mustapha, subsequently adjourned the case until June 22 to enable the defendant’s new counsel study the case file before further proceedings.

At the resumed hearing on Monday, counsel to the defendant, represented by Ms E.H. Iorhon, prayed the court for more time to consult with and question the defendant.

Following the application, Mustapha adjourned the case until June 29 for hearing.
