Former Chief of Staff to a former Imo State governor, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu, has hailed the ongoing infrastructure renewal programme in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), saying it is reshaping Abuja and improving the capital city’s outlook.

Speaking at a news conference in Abuja, Nwosu said the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has accelerated the delivery of critical infrastructure projects, leading to visible improvements across the nation’s capital.

According to him, residents who have witnessed Abuja’s growth over the years can easily appreciate the scale of development currently taking place.
Nwosu, who said he has lived in Abuja for more than 25 years, noted that several major road and bridge projects have significantly improved connectivity and eased movement within the city.
He listed projects such as the Apo Road, Maitama Bridge, Jahi Bridge, the Jahi–Gwarimpa Interchange, the Airport Expressway–Kuje Road, the Kuje–Gwagwalada Road, the Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX) main carriageways and road networks in Katampe District as evidence of the administration’s infrastructure push.

“The changes are visible across the city. Many of these roads were in poor condition in the past, but today they have been transformed through deliberate government intervention,” he said.
Nwosu argued that infrastructure development remains one of the most important responsibilities of government, stressing that the provision of roads, bridges and other public facilities directly impacts the quality of life of citizens.

He also commended the construction of judges’ quarters in the FCT, describing the project as a positive step towards improving the welfare and working conditions of judicial officers.
According to him, sustained investment in public infrastructure is necessary to strengthen institutions and support national development.

The former governorship candidate further stated that Abuja, as Nigeria’s seat of government, should continue to develop in line with global standards.
He emphasised the importance of improving infrastructure, security and environmental sanitation to enhance the city’s attractiveness and project a positive image of the country to visitors and investors.

Nwosu maintained that the ongoing projects across the FCT have contributed to the capital city’s transformation and deserve recognition for their impact on urban development and service delivery.
