The Federal Government on Tuesday, said it will deploy cutting edge technologies in military warfare to quell insurgency in the country, assuring that no stone will be left unturned in its determination to end insecurity in all parts of the country.
Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawalle, who gave the assurance on Tuesday at the ongoing 2nd edition of the World Defence Exhibition in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, explained that “the essence of Nigeria’s participation in this very important exhibition is to explore latest technology in military hardware that would eventually be acquired for the country, and also create ways of collaborating with key Defence stakeholders, leaders and companies to enhance Nigeria’s security structure.”
Director, Information and Media Relations in the Ministry of Defence, Henshaw Ogubike, who confirmed the development to our correspondent, said Matawalle, who led the Nigerian delegation to the global event noted the stated objective is in tandem with the set goals of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on security.
“Matawalle said the Tinubu administration is committed to enhancing security in Nigeria and the West African region.”
“The Nigerian delegation to the World Defence Exhibition comprises of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, Director-General of Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON), Major- General Effiong Edet and other critical stakeholders of the Nigerian Armed Forces and exhibitors from Nigeria.”
While going round the exhibition stands, the Minister pointed out that the global exhibition is a platform where officials of the Defence Ministries of participating countries will interact and share information and ideas on the latest defence systems.
According to him, some leading international defence companies which are indigenous to Nigeria, like DICON and PROFORCE and others around the world are participating in the exhibition, in addition to the Ministry of Defence of Saudi Arabia.
Speaking further, the Minister said: “The Exhibition is designed to deliver key platforms across all five defence domains – land, sea, air, space (satellites) and security.”
The exhibition featured displays of military hardware, latest technologies in military aircraft including a live air show, knowledge transfer, topical debates, and opportunities to connect, collaborate and network with key defense stakeholders and leaders.
Commending the organizer of the strategic event, the Minister noted that participants would gain a lot in terms of defence cooperation.”
The 2nd world Defence Exhibition in Saudi Arabia is expected to end on the 8th of February 2024.
