The International Institute of Experts on Political Economy and Administration (IIEPEA) on Wednesday announced the appointment of Nigerian national, Mr Omobayo Godwins, as its new Director-General.
This was disclosed by the Executive President and Co-Founder of IIEPEA, Dr Tunji Asaolu, during a press conference on Tuesday in Abuja.
The appointment is effective from Sept. 23, 2025.
Asaolu noted that the IIEPEA, which was registered in both Canada and Nigeria, was a leading institution dedicated to excellence in political economy and public administration.
According to him, the institute’s mission is rooted in fostering a culture of empowerment, knowledge-sharing, and service, enabling individuals and organisations to thrive in their respective domains.
“We are committed to cultivating leaders who drive positive change and contribute to the betterment of society through innovative education, transformative research, and impactful community engagement,” Asaolu said.
He described Godwins as a leader with “profound expertise, exceptional leadership skills, and rich political experience,” adding that those qualities uniquely positioned him to steer the institute toward achieving its mission and vision.
“He embodies the spirit of innovation and collaboration we seek in our leadership, qualities that are essential as we navigate the complex challenges facing political economy and administration on a global scale.
“As Director-General, Godwins will oversee all global operations of IIEPEA, implementing strategic initiatives aligned with its core values.
“His responsibilities will include developing and executing policies that support the institute’s goals, forging partnerships with governments, academic institutions, and other stakeholders, and promoting collaborative research and innovation.
“As we begin this new chapter, I call on all members of our community and stakeholders to support Godwins in his leadership journey.
“Together, we can build on our achievements and continue to drive impactful change that transcends borders and fosters a more equitable world,” Asaolu urged.
In his remarks, Godwins expressed gratitude to the institute for the opportunity to serve, pledging to contribute meaningfully to its continued growth and success.
“I thank the institute for finding me worthy to serve a four-year term in the sphere of political economy and administration.
“My goal is to help position humanity as an economic and political enabler to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
“I believe that by 2030, Nigeria should be able to report achieving around 60 to 65 percent of these objectives, acknowledging that even globally, full attainment is rare,” he said.
