PHOTONEWS: NGSA Welcomes MAN Delegation, Says ‘Data Sets On Minerals, Laboratory Services Are Available To Miners.’

The Nigerian Geological Survey Agency (NGSA) will support corporate and individual members of the Miners Association of Nigeria (MAN) with data sets on solid minerals in Nigeria.

Director-General of the Agency, Dr. A. A. Garba gave the assurance during a recent visit of the National Executive Council of the association to the Agency, in Abuja.

Dr. Garba encouraged the Association to approach the NGSA for mineral information and laboratory services, adding that the Agency has repositioned its laboratory for optimal service delivery.

He said the museum at the National Geosciences Information Centre (a specialized centre of the NGSA) hosts various mineral samples collected from across the county, and encouraged miners to organize visitation that will broaden public understanding of the investment opportunities of the sector, adding that the Agency will continue to acquire and provide mineral information on Nigeria to both local and foreign investors.

While presenting the new Mineral Map of Nigeria to the Association, the Director-General disclosed that the Agency has acquired some instruments that will be useful to members of the association, saying: ‘The National Geosciences Research Laboratory another specialized centre of the NGSA, it has been equipped with equipment that are very useful to miners,’ adding that hand-held XRF and Lead Analyzer are some equipment in use at the NGRL, among other tools used by scientists and researchers in a mineral laboratory.

President, Miners Association of Nigeria, Mr. Dele Ayanleke commended the agency for the effort it has made in recent years to provide mineral information to investors.
